Phreno is built for real-time impact monitoring, ensuring every significant event is recorded, analyzed, and accessible immediately through your app.
How Impact Events Are Recorded and Analyzed
The Phreno sensor continuously monitors for impact activity using:

High-G Accelerometer to detect linear forces up to ±200g

Gyroscope (IMU) to measure rotational velocity and acceleration

Sensor Fusion Algorithms that combines accelerometer and gyroscope data to correct for gravitational noise and improve orientation tracking
When an impact exceeds a preset threshold:

The device captures pre- and post-impact data via a First In First Out buffer
- Sends hundreds of data points to our backend server (via your phone)

We calculate g-force and rotational force metrics

Assign a risk level (low, medium, or high) to every impact.
- That data is then send back to your phone, where you can view it within the app.
This entire process takes just a couple of seconds.
Please note that risk thresholds are set by us. You are not able to adjust them at this time. Our thresholds are based on the most up to date scientific research.
Immediate Notifications and Alerts (Coming soon!)
If a high-risk impact is detected, the Phreno app will:

Trigger an in-app alert to notify the user immediately

Flag the event in the Analytics and Summary views for review
How Data is Stored and Accessed
As of 20 April 2025, the device needs to be connected to your phone in order to send data to the backend. The app works in the background, so it just needs to be open on your phone to stay connected to the sensor.
Coming in our next firmware update: Phreno will ensure redundancy in data capture with both local and cloud storage:

On-Device Flash Memory: Temporarily stores impact events when BLE connection is unavailable

BLE Sync to App: Once reconnected, all locally stored data is uploaded to the app

Cloud Backup: All event data is securely encrypted and synced to your cloud-based account for long-term storage, analysis, and multi-device access
This system will guarantee no critical impact data is lost, even if your phone isn't nearby at the moment of the event. All impacts are accessible through your app's Analytics view for detailed review.
